17th Annual GPCA Forum 2023: Wrap Up
Doha, Qatar — Quincannon Associates participated in the topic of climate change which notably took center stage at COP28 in Dubai this November. Those same discussions were witnessed at the 17th Annual GPCA Forum this December in Qatar. Even though attendance was notably lighter than previous years at GPCA, engagement was just as strong between global and regional chemical leaders who attended the forum. Topics included the future of procurement, sustainability, innovation, and low carbon emissions with both local and global perspectives.
The conversations carried over to Quincannon Associates' reception on monday evening. Producers and carriers gathered pool-side with Quincannon Associates at the famous Ned Hotel to share perspectives on the state of the markets against the backdrop of rising tensions in the region. The recent attacks on merchant vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden has created additional challenges for markets already facing economic headwinds, transit restrictions in the Panama Canal, and the soon to be implemented Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in Europe in January 2024.
