BERLIN, Germany — Quincannon Associates will be attending the 58th Annual Meeting of EPCA being held from the 7th to 10th of October, 2024.
Energy transition, particularly the shift from fossil fuels to newer non-carbon-based fuels like Clean Hydrogen, Renewable Diesel, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), is facing mounting challenges. A sluggish global economy and geopolitical tensions are dampening enthusiasm and clarity for this transition. With shipping accounting for approximately 3% of annual GHG emissions, it is clear that the industry must play a pivotal role in linking the supply of these alternative fuels to the markets that need them.
However, this transition is fraught with difficulties. Many projects will struggle to be economically viable without substantial subsidies from governments worldwide. The significantly higher production costs of these new technologies mean they cannot compete with fossil fuels without tax incentives or government support.
